Newspapers are a dying breed

March 9th, 2010 · Opinion, membership websites

Newpaper "suicidal corporate geniuses leaped into the Internet before figuring how to get the money off the dresser. Because everyone else was doing it, newspapers raced to post content on the Net for free, which is like burning furniture to warm your house.  Eventually you’re left in the cold with no place to sit” – Stu Bykofsky.

Why didn’t newspapers start with  list building or membership websites ?

Cities with a high literacy rate  will watch their newspaper die a slow death.  Why buy newspapers when you can get the same information for free online?  Why buy that ink ?

UPDATE

I changed my mind. I won’t test. Not yet.  It’s Robert Plank’s fault (in a good way).  Find out why I won’t be  “testing” just for “testing sake” .

———

Look out for my review of Feedback Army: http://www.feedbackarmy.com

They offer simple, cheap usability testing for your website.  Not FREE testing.  Cheap and affordable.

They can start a usability test for your site in two minutes. Submit questions about your site and receive 10 responses from our reviewers. The cost is $10.”

I’ll use them on a product I’m about to launch, and give you guys some feedback.
