Google wants to know what your looking for and what you already know.

Facebook wants to know your intentions and your demographics.

One company could never do it all without causing a riot. So one ogles you, while the other looks at your face and stares into your eyes.

Facebook created the Like Buttom so they could categorize and classify you.
They can’t sell your private data without causing a public uproar and riot. But if you visit an external website and deliberately tell Facebook what you “Like”, they have the right to share that info with advertisers and partners. Even if you “unlike” something later, they can keep a record of what you were watching, what you clicked on next and took probably action on. Who knows what else they track.

For Facebook, it’s all about making money through relationships and understanding your intentions. That’s is why the “don’t like” button does not exist. They are not interested in filtering information for you.

They don’t care about what you don’t like. They want to know what you like, so they can sell you stuff. And that is the gist of this blog post.
